Candidtraveller began because I hated the idea of travelling to a place I knew little about aside from what I was told in the pages of a glossy sales travel brochure. I hated arriving at a new destination to discover that it was less than I’d imagined it would be, or sitting down in a much-hyped restaurant to find that, sure the food was excellent, but the staff were terrible or the ambience was dull. I like real and honest first-person accounts of places, so I can read and get a genuine feel for where I’d like to travel.
So yes, Candidtraveller was borne out of a few rants at first, but it’s evolved to become a blog that’s designed to showcase the best of travel from around the world.
With help from a few knowledgeable and equally as frustrated freelance writers, my aim is to source and help showcase to readers as many worthwhile, special and often under-rated travel destinations, products, activities and eateries as I can, from anywhere in the World that we can reach.
We’re very particular about where we go, which beds we lie in and whose food we sample. We’re only interested in the best because, lets face it, no one deliberately chooses a bad holiday, do they?
We choose our locations by recommendations that come from family, friends and often our readers. So, if there’s somewhere you enjoyed staying or an activity that you thought was out of this world, and you want us to share it, then why not get in touch and let us in on your secret?
One point to note is that any review written by the Candidtraveller team is fair and impartial. Nobody who contributes to Candidtraveller has been, and never will be, paid to write reviews about specific hotels or promote individual businesses, and it’s because of this that our articles are trustworthy. Any articles filed under our Travel Blog section are not reviews, but general articles of interest. They are often written by guest writers, and if there are opinions contained therein, they are the opinion of the writer themselves. However, we do not review or comment on hotels, restaurants or activity providers that we have never visited.
Thanks for taking the time to visit, and feel free to contact us on travellers@candidtravellers.com if you have any questions or comments. (You can also fill in the form below).
Happy travelling…
